Asian Pacific Counseling & Treatment Centers is a contract-agency of the Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health and Riverside University Health System - Behavioral Health. With six locations throughout Los Angeles County and a satellite office in Riverside county, APCTC staffs provide mental health services to clients of all ages with mental illness and behavioral health challenges. While our centers specialize in serving the monolingual Asian Pacific community, we provide services to the entire community and offer services in English and Spanish as well.
Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and energetic Parent/Caregiver Partner to join our Full-Service Partnership High Fidelity Wraparound (FSP HFW) Program. In this vital role, you will serve as a trusted advocate and support system for families navigating complex mental health, behavioral health, and social challenges. Under the direction of the Program Coordinator/Manager, the Parent Partner acts as a role model and provides guidance and support to parents of children and adult clients receiving mental health treatment. Your work will empower families from underserved communities by fostering resilience, promoting positive outcomes, and connecting them with essential community resources.
Duties
- Provide assistance to parents in supporting client’s recovery, including managing client’s triggers and symptoms that may lead to a mental health crisis.
- Work with the treatment team to implement effective outreach and engagement strategies.
- Demonstrate an ability to develop respectful interpersonal relationships with clients and families while maintaining appropriate boundaries
- Assist and support parents in the event a client needs to be hospitalized. Educate them on what to expect and provide support during client’s hospitalization and discharge planning.
- Provide linkage to beneficial services and community resources; Provide support during IEP meetings, court hearings, Regional Center, SSI, housing appointments, etc.
- Participate in and/or facilitate Child and Family Team Meetings (CFT). Empower parents by eliciting their voice and choice in the process, advocating for the family.
- Contribute to the development of the crisis plan, support and coach parent on safety planning.
- Help parents and their families identify, understand and combat stigma and discrimination associated with mental illness and develop strategies to reduce stigma.
- Attend and participate in special events, conferences, workshops and trainings with the behavioral health system and in the community including county caregiver partner meetings, agency staff meetings and weekly supervision.
- Complete timely documentation and billing as required.
- Overtime, holiday, or weekend work may be required for client crises or urgent services.
- Regular attendance required.
- Maintain and uphold Agency mission statement, values, policies, procedures, and principles.
Experience
- Lived experience and/or familiar with the mental health system, having gone through the mental health system themselves or having family member/s who have received services from the mental health system. Must be familiar with the mental health system, mental health recovery principles and be able to explain the recovery process to clients and their families.
- State certified Medi-Cal Peer Support Specialist is preferred or complete State-approved certification as a Medi-Cal Peer Support Specialist within 6-month introductory period. Complete 16 hours Wraparound 101: Foundations of Fidelity training within 6-month introductory period.
- Bilingual and fluent in Spanish.
- Computer Literacy – ability to use MS Office Outlook, Adobe programs, Electronic Medical Record System and any other relevant computer programs that are necessary to fulfill the required job duties.
- Ability to function as a member of an inter-disciplinary team.
- Knowledge and ability to work with multi-ethnic populations.
- Must have a valid California driver license, auto insurance and reliable transportation. Proof must be submitted.

Pay: $22.00 - $34.80 per hour
