About The Carver: The Carver's mission is to equip all learners for global competitiveness by leading strategic partnerships with schools and communities that advance excellence and growth opportunities. Carver operates 60+ before-school, after-school, and summer programs in all K-12 public schools in Norwalk, Side by Side Charter School, the Classical Studies Magnet Academy in Bridgeport, Naugatuck High School, Stamford High School, and the Carver Community Center. With an annual budget of $10,356,289 (nearly tripled since 2020), The Carver serves more than 2,800 K-12 students a year, with 24 full-time and 486 part-time employees. Carver programming aligns with in-school curricula, occurs within the student's respective schools, and is led by each school’s daytime certified teachers. Position Overview:
The Carver is seeking a motivated and experienced Development Operations Manager to join our team. This role presents an exciting opportunity for an individual who is mission-driven and passionate about gift processing and development operations. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in managing donor databases and optimizing workflows to support Carver’s fundraising initiatives.
The Development Operations Manager will be responsible for overseeing gift processing, managing the donor database, and ensuring operational efficiency in our fundraising efforts. While this position is ideally office-based in Norwalk, Connecticut, we are open to remote work arrangements for the right candidate residing in states that can accommodate remote engagement with a Connecticut-based organization including New York, Massachusetts, New Jersey, and Rhode Island.
Travel Requirements: Up to 15% travel to support organizational meetings, events, and operational needs.
Responsibilities
· Manage The Carver’s donor database (Raiser’s Edge), ensuring accurate recording of donor information and all donations.
· Oversee the development and maintenance of gift processing procedures, ensuring adherence to established policies for accuracy and compliance.
· Stay current with software updates and best practices in Blackbaud solutions, providing training and support to staff as needed.
· Generate, proofread, and distribute acknowledgment letters and tax receipts for all gifts following The Carver’s gift processing protocols.
· Assist in the preparation and segmentation of donor and prospect lists for direct mail campaigns, email campaigns and other fundraising initiatives.
· Utilizing CRM systems, support the creation of donor communication materials, including newsletters and promotional content for fundraising events.
· Liaise with the Finance team to ensure timely and accurate reporting on donor activity, including pledge and donation tracking and reconciliation.
· Develop and maintain fundraising and marketing calendars for organized tracking of outreach efforts.
· Assist with event planning and execution, providing invoicing support with vendors and contributors.
· Compile and format reports, gathering data to support strategic decision-making.
Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree
· Minimum of 3-5 years of nonprofit operations experience, specifically in gift processing and donor database management
· Proficiency in Blackbaud CRM, particularly Raiser’s Edge and Financial Edge
· Proficiency with online fundraising platforms
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office and database management systems
· Proven track record of setting priorities and meeting deadlines
Preferred Experience and Skills:
· Strong project management skills
· Excellent written and verbal communication capabilities
· Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
· Basic knowledge of data privacy and security standards in nonprofit environments
