Chateau Rehabilitation and Nursing Center is seeking a skilled and dependable Dialysis Patient Care Technician (PCT) to join our dialysis team. This is an excellent opportunity for a CCHT-certified dialysis professional who takes pride in providing safe, high-quality care and supporting patients throughout their hemodialysis treatments.
The Dialysis PCT will work closely with nurses and the clinical team to prepare dialysis equipment, monitor treatment-related data, maintain dialysis safety standards, and ensure equipment and the dialysis environment meet established protocols.
Prepare and set up hemodialysis machines for patient treatments.
Prime the extracorporeal blood circuit and prepare dialysis equipment according to established procedures.
Obtain and accurately record pre- and post-dialysis treatment data, including vital signs and treatment information.
Monitor patients during treatment and promptly report any abnormalities or changes to the nursing staff.
Check dialysate conductivity, temperature, and pH according to facility protocols.
Mix and safely transfer bicarbonate as required for dialysis treatments.
Test the dialysis water system for chlorine and chloramine levels.
Perform disinfection of bicarbonate tanks and hemodialysis machines according to infection-control and manufacturer guidelines.
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized dialysis treatment area.
Follow all infection prevention, dialysis safety, quality assurance, and regulatory requirements.
Assist the dialysis nursing team with patient care and treatment needs.
Accurately document treatment information in the appropriate EMR system.
Maintain patient privacy, dignity, comfort, and safety throughout the dialysis process.
Current CCHT (Certified Clinical Hemodialysis Technician) certification required.
Current CPR certification required.
Previous dialysis experience required.
Nursing home or skilled nursing facility (SNF) experience preferred.
Experience with chronic hemodialysis patients preferred.
Knowledge of dialysis machine preparation, extracorporeal circuit priming, dialysate monitoring, bicarbonate handling, and dialysis water testing.
Ability to recognize and promptly report abnormal patient or treatment findings.
Familiarity with EMR documentation.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to dialysis safety and infection control.
Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
