Job Summary
EAK Goodneighbor is seeking a compassionate, dependable, and experienced Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) to provide one-on-one care for an 11-year-old child with special needs in her home. This position is unique in that the caregiver will be hired directly by the patient’s mother, who serves as the employer and primary point of contact. The ideal candidate is patient, reliable, and committed to providing high-quality, individualized care while promoting safety, dignity, and independence.
Responsibilities
- Provide daily personal care, including bathing (bed baths and showers), dressing, grooming, and hygiene assistance.
- Administer medications accurately according to the prescribed schedule.
- Safely transfer and assist with mobility; must be able to lift and support 50+ pounds.
- Accompany the client on walks and assist with age-appropriate activities.
- Transport and accompany the client to medical appointments as needed.
- Monitor and document changes in the client’s condition and communicate concerns promptly.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized care environment.
- Follow all individualized care plans and physician instructions.
- Treat the client and family with professionalism, compassion, and respect at all times.
Qualifications
- Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification.
- Current CPR and First Aid certifications.
- Experience working with children with special needs preferred.
- Knowledge of safe lifting, transfers, personal care, and medication administration.
- Strong communication, organizational, and time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently and remain calm in stressful situations.
- Reliable transportation and willingness to attend medical appointments with the client.
- Ability to pass all required background checks and meet state requirements for working with children with special needs.
