Job Overview
General Equipment Rental is seeking an experienced and dependable Senior Equipment Maintenance Technician to join our team.
This is a hands-on position for someone with strong mechanical aptitude, solid troubleshooting skills, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced rental environment. The right candidate should be comfortable diagnosing and performing repairs on a wide variety of equipment while also assisting customers and supporting daily shop operations.
This position also includes supervising and coordinating the daily workflow of a small team of 3-4 technicians and yard employees.
Responsibilities
- Inspect, diagnose, maintain, and repair rental equipment and tools
- Perform preventative maintenance and safety inspections
- Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, fuel, and electrical issues
- Prepare rental equipment for customer use
- Verify equipment condition, hours, fuel levels, tires, mileage, and safety compliance before and after rental
- Check equipment in and out accurately
- Demonstrate safe and proper equipment operation to customers
- Assist with loading, unloading, and deliveries as needed
- Help supervise and coordinate the daily work of shop and yard staff
- Provide guidance and support to less experienced technicians
- Maintain organized service records and communicate repair needs clearly
- Coordinate with management regarding equipment downtime, parts, and repair priorities
- Help maintain a clean, organized, and safe shop environment
- Follow company procedures and safety standards
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong mechanical and troubleshooting experience
- Experience supervising or leading a small team preferred
- Experience working on construction, landscaping, or small engine equipment
- Ability to diagnose and perform repairs independently
- Familiarity with hydraulic, electrical, and fuel systems
- Strong work ethic and reliability
- Good customer service and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Valid driver’s license (with clean driving record preferred)
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and move heavy equipment
- Ability to work inside and outside in varying weather conditions
- Standing, bending, lifting, and active movement throughout the workday

Pay: $19.00 - $23.00 per hour
