WINDHAM PRIDE PREVENTION DIRECTOR - WINDHAM HUMAN SERVICES DEPARTMENT

The Town of Windham seeks qualified applicants for the position of Windham Pride Prevention Director. This is a full-time, grant-funded position (35 hrs/wk @ $28.00/hr). The Windham Pride Prevention Director is responsible for the development and maintenance of a comprehensive community collaboration aimed at reducing youth substance abuse. The position is responsible for organizing community members around substance abuse prevention, conducting community mobilization activities, designing and collaborating with providers (police, school personnel, parent groups, youth groups, and other providers) to initiate activities that foster prevention in a manner that emphasizes a coordinated approach to prevent youth substance abuse within the community. The position is also responsible for maintaining records, collecting and analyzing data in accordance with program evaluation requirements, and maintaining a high profile in the community as an expert in substance abuse prevention. The Windham Pride Prevention Director will also be responsible for ensuring that the necessary state and federal reporting requirements are completed, including any/all interim reports and the final report. This position may be required to work flexible and evening hours.
Must possess the following qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Psychology, Sociology, Human Resources, Mental Health, Social Work or other Human Services curriculum; plus two (2) years of experience in the planning, development, or implementation of drug/alcohol/substance abuse awareness/prevention programming; or in lieu thereof, an equivalent combination of education, experience, and training that provides the knowledge, skills, and ability for the position.
- Must possess and retain a Connecticut Motor Vehicle Driver’s License.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office, required.
- Bilingual (English and Spanish), preferred.
