Duties
- Prepare and dispense medications accurately under the supervision of licensed pharmacists, including IV infusions and aseptic techniques for sterile preparations
- Assist with medication intake, verifying prescriptions, and ensuring proper documentation for patient records
- Support patient care by providing medication information and answering patient inquiries with professionalism and empathy
- Manage inventory levels, restock supplies, and ensure proper storage of pharmaceuticals according to safety standards
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to facilitate medication administration in hospital settings, including critical care units
- Maintain meticulous records of medication dispensing, compounding procedures, and patient interactions in compliance with regulatory requirements
- Perform medication reconciliation and support the pharmacy team during high-volume periods or emergencies
Experience
- Prior pharmacy technician experience is required, ideally within hospital or acute care environments
- Experience working in LTC pharmacy or critical care settings is highly preferred
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology and medication management processes
- Hands-on experience with IV infusion preparation and aseptic technique procedures
- Demonstrated ability to provide excellent patient service and support safe medication practices
- Familiarity with hospital workflows related to medication intake, administration, and documentation
- Certification as a pharmacy technician is required; additional certifications related to medical terminology or aseptic technique are a plus
