Summary:
The Float Registered Nurse (RN) is a licensed professional who is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care. Ultimately responsible for documentation of interventions, outcomes, discharge plans, and patient/family education. Collaborates with physicians and other members of the interdisciplinary health care team to provide continuity of care. The registered nurse is responsible for the supervision of and delegation of tasks to appropriate individuals within the clinic. Must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide age-appropriate patient care and is accountable for the policies and procedures of the organization. The Float Registered Nurse will be assigned to a specific clinic on their scheduled day(s) of work. Clinic location/assignment will change daily/weekly based on staffing needs across Faith Health Clinics.

Responsibilities:
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Demonstrates ability to appropriately modify approach and procedures to meet needs of age/diversity of population served for the following age groups:
- Neonate (birth – 28 days)
- Infant (29 days – less than 1 year)
- Pediatric/Child (1 year – 12 years)
- Adolescent (12 years – 18 years)
- Adult (18 years – 65 years)
- Geriatric (over 65 years)
- Incorporates cultural considerations in the provisions of care.
- Knowledge of growth and developmental stages.
- Considers life changes/effects on health beliefs and behaviors.
- Provides necessary safety measures.
- Provides information and involves family/caregiver in decision making.
2. Performs all responsibilities/duties required by Faith Health Clinics as defined in the scope of practice, to ensure that the unique nature of the patient is addressed. This includes but is not limited to the age of the patient served.
- Utilize the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and adapt care to meet age-specific and individual patient needs.
- Perform and document patient assessments, screenings, diagnostic tests, procedures, and treatments in accordance with scope of practice and clinic policies.
- Assist providers during examinations and procedures; administer medications, IV fluids, and treatments safely and accurately.
- Coordinate patient care by scheduling procedures, obtaining insurance authorizations, processing lab and imaging results, and ensuring continuity of care through effective documentation and communication.
- Provide patient and family education, identify learning needs, and support shared decision-making throughout the care process.
- Monitor patient condition, respond appropriately to changes or emergencies, and advocate for patient safety, comfort, and rights.
- Maintain a safe, therapeutic, and efficient clinic environment by managing supplies, equipment, and infection control practices.
- Support clinic operations by triaging patient concerns, scheduling follow-ups, and ensuring smooth patient flow.
- Collaborate with physicians, providers, and interdisciplinary team members to deliver high-quality, coordinated care.
- Demonstrate professional accountability by adhering to ethical, legal, and organizational standards while contributing to quality improvement initiatives.
Foster a positive work environment by promoting teamwork, problem-solving, and active participation in departmental and community nursing initiatives.

Hours will be dependent on patient census and workload. Ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule, to include after-hours and weekends as necessary.

EDUCATION (Minimum Requirements for Position):
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Required
Current Registered Nurse (RN) license or temporary permit from the State of Nebraska required.
Basic Life Support (BLS) obtained within one full month from date of hire (Travelers-required upon hire) required.
Previous Experience Requirements:
EXPERIENCE: Required Preferred
Previous clinical experience preferred.
Skills/Knowledge Requirements:
SKILLS (If Applicable): Required Preferred
Language Skills – Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language required.
KNOWLEDGE (If Applicable):
Patient rights, safety practices, infection control practices and risk management principles required.
Other Certifications/Requirements Required
Current, valid driver’s license issued in the state of legal residence required.
