Position Summary
The Logistics Specialist is responsible for sourcing transportation providers, coordinating inbound and outbound shipments, and supporting logistics operations for AFAM Concept Inc and Max Private Label manufacturing companies within the professional haircare and beauty industry. This position ensures products are shipped accurately, cost-effectively, and on time while meeting customer requirements and supporting warehouse, manufacturing, and customer service operations.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Source and coordinate trucking companies, freight brokers, and third-party logistics (3PL) providers for domestic and international shipments.
- Obtain competitive freight quotes and schedule LTL, FTL, parcel, expedited, and ocean shipments.
- Track shipments, resolve delivery issues, and communicate shipment status to customers and internal departments.
- Coordinate inventory transfers and support warehouse shipping activities.
- Prepare shipping documentation, including Bills of Lading, packing lists, and export documents.
- Ensure compliance with customer routing guides, vendor requirements, and transportation regulations by staying educated on them. This is done by continually reviewing the current guides provided by all customers.
- Enter all freight invoices into Sage 100 by matching the original received quote to the final freight invoice along with the BOL, customer invoice, or vendor invoice. All discrepancies/invoice variances must be reconciled on a timely basis and entered into Sage 100. All finalized paperwork must be given over to AP by the agreed upon deadlines to ensure prompt payment of invoices.
- Maintain accurate shipping records and logistics data within Sage 100 and related systems.
- Collaborate with Sales, Customer Service, Purchasing, Manufacturing, Warehouse, and Finance to support customer orders and production schedules.
- Identify opportunities to improve shipping efficiency and reduce transportation costs.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Associate's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field preferred, or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum of 3–5 years of logistics, transportation, freight sourcing, or supply chain experience in a manufacturing or consumer packaged goods (CPG) environment.
- Required experience working with national retail customers, including Walmart, Target, Dollar Tree, CVS, Walgreens, Ulta Beauty, Sally Beauty, Amazon, or similar chain retailers.
- Experience with customer routing guides, vendor compliance requirements, OTIF performance, and chargeback prevention.
- Proficiency in Sage 100 ERP and Electronic Data Interchange (EDI), including processing purchase orders, ASNs, invoices, and retailer transactions.
- Experience coordinating LTL, FTL, parcel, and international shipments.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit for extended periods and occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
- Occasional work in warehouse and manufacturing areas.
Pay: $28.00 - $31.00 per hour
