EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
This position supports efforts to protect public health and the environment by helping enforce the Pennsylvania Sewage Facilities Act. It combines hands-on fieldwork, technical review and community interaction to support clean water goals. As an Environmental Trainee, you will perform the following duties:

Review Plans: Analyze sewage planning modules, policies, and regulations to determine compliance and recommend actions

Conduct Assessments: Visit sites to evaluate on lot and stream discharge systems and gather field information

Support Compliance: Examine work performed by sewage enforcement officers and provide feedback on performance

Prepare Analyses: Create technical summaries and documentation that support program decisions

Engage Communities: Interact with officials and residents to explain program requirements and address concerns

Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.

Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 2 days per week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Wilkes Barre. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.
