American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry Float Pool position at a short-term acute care hospital in Missouri, requiring 2 years of experience and a valid MO or compact RN license.

Short-term acute care hospital setting

Float pool position covering medical, surgical, oncology, neuro, cardiology, renal, and telemetry units
-
Patient ratios of 1:5–6 on days/weekends and 1:6 on nights
-
Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts (18:45–07:15)

Every other weekend required, or a minimum of 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule (Saturday and Sunday)

Holiday rotation required

No on-call requirements

Float pool nurses call into a recorded line up to 1 hour before shift start to receive their unit assignment; pre-assignment to a specific unit for part of the contract is possible and will be communicated in advance

Charting system: Epic (experience required for certain units)

Block scheduling is not available

Active MO RN license or compact RN license valid in Missouri required at time of consideration; pending IL license may be accepted with notation

Minimum 2 years of RN experience required

Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, IV insertion proficiency, and telemetry experience

NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification preferred

Epic EMR experience required for certain units

Ability to use lift devices (ceiling lifts) and bladder scanner (training provided)

Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible

RTO is limited to no more than 7 days per 13-week contract; no RTO permitted during the first week of orientation

Former permanent employees of any BJC facility must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler

Travel RNs may remain at BJC facilities for up to 18 months, after which a 3-month break in service is required
