Position Summary
The Lab Manager is responsible for overseeing daily lab operations, ensuring accurate specimen collection and processing, maintaining compliance with company and regulatory standards, and delivering an excellent customer experience. This role leads the in-store lab team, supports operational efficiency, and helps ensure that every customer receives professional, confidential, and compassionate service.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage daily lab and store operations to ensure smooth workflow and excellent customer service.
- Perform and/or oversee specimen collections, including blood draws, urine collections, saliva, hair, and other specimen types as needed.
- Ensure proper specimen handling, labeling, packaging, storage, and shipping procedures.
- Maintain compliance with applicable laboratory, HIPAA, OSHA, DOT, and company policies.
- Support drug and alcohol testing programs, including DOT and non-DOT collections, as applicable.
- Train, coach, and supervise lab staff and collection personnel.
- Monitor inventory of lab supplies and place orders as needed.
- Review documentation for completeness, accuracy, and compliance.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and professional lab environment.
- Assist customers with test selection, registration, payment, and general questions.
- Coordinate with reference labs, collection partners, corporate support teams, and vendors when needed.
- Support sales and business development efforts by promoting services to customers, employers, and community partners.
- Resolve customer concerns professionally and escalate issues when appropriate.
- Maintain confidentiality of customer health information and test results at all times.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Phlebotomy certification or medical assistant certification required.
- Previous lab, medical office, urgent care, or diagnostic testing experience preferred.
- Prior supervisory or management experience preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow procedures accurately.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Comfortable using computers, lab portals, POS systems, and basic office software.
- Must be dependable, professional, and committed to maintaining confidentiality.
Schedule
- Full-time position.
- Schedule includes weekdays, Saturdays, and flexibility based on business needs.
