I own Alsies Ice Cream here in Charlotte, and I’m big on creating a fun, positive, low-stress work environment where people actually enjoy coming to work.
We’re looking for a few Ice Cream Truck Ambassadors to operate our trucks throughout neighborhoods, parks, and events across the city.
This isn’t a sit-back-and-drive kind of role — you’re the face of the experience. You’ll be interacting with families, kids, and the community every day, creating moments that people genuinely get excited about.
If you’re someone who likes independence, enjoys being out and about (not stuck behind a desk), and naturally brings good energy — you’ll probably love this.
What the Job Feels Like
- You’re outside, moving around the city — not stuck in one place
- You’re interacting with happy people (it’s ice cream — people are in a good mood!)
- You’re working independently, but with clear structure and support
- You’re listening to music, creating energy, and being part of the neighborhood vibe
What You’ll Do
- Safely operate the ice cream truck along assigned routes and stops
- Manage your route independently and stay on schedule
- Greet customers and create a fun, welcoming experience
- Handle food products safely and keep everything clean and organized
- Use our POS system (Square) for transactions
- Follow simple systems and checklists that keep everything running smoothly
- Communicate with me/the team if anything comes up
What We’re Looking For
This role is perfect for someone who is:
- Naturally upbeat, friendly, and good with people
- Reliable — if you say you’ll be there, you’re there
- Comfortable working independently
- Not afraid to interact (you don’t have to be over-the-top, just warm and confident)
- Detail-oriented (clean truck, organized setup, etc.)
- Comfortable using basic tech (tablet, maps, Point of sale system)
- Calm and responsible behind the wheel
The Schedule (This Matters)
- No early mornings — we typically start around midday
- Flexible scheduling — we work with your availability
- Shifts are structured, but we keep things realistic and manageable
- Typical shifts are 12-8 weekends and weekdays when school not in session, 3-8 weekdays when school in session.
Stress Level (Let’s Be Real)
I care a lot about keeping this a low-drama, low-stress environment:
- Clear expectations so you’re never guessing
- You’ll always know what your day looks like
- We focus on consistency over chaos
That said — this is still a responsibility-based role. We’re trusting you with a truck, the brand, and the customer experience.
Requirements
- 19+ (insurance requirement)
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Comfortable driving a larger vehicle (think FULL size SUV)
- Ability to lift/move product as needed
- Available for weekends
- Must pass a background check before starting
Pay & Details
- $15/hour plus tips
- Part-time
- Flexible schedule
Perks
- Employee discounts
- Paid training
- Flexible scheduling
- You get to work in a genuinely fun environment (not something we just say)
Final Note
If you’re looking for something super rigid, highly supervised, or very routine — this probably isn’t the right fit.
But if you like:
- independence
- good energy
- being out in the community
- and taking ownership of your work
…you’ll do really well here.
Pay: $15.00 per hour
Benefits:
- Employee discount
- Flexible schedule
- Paid training
