Join our team as a Construction Estimator for commercial construction projects. In this detail-oriented position, you will be responsible for accurately estimating government contracting project costs, approving bids, and collaborating closely with the owner, project managers, and subcontractors. Your expertise will help ensure projects are within budget, and to the highest quality standards. Duties
- Review and interpret construction blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications to determine material requirements and project scope.
- Utilize construction management tools to develop precise cost estimates.
- Conduct detailed material cost estimating and analyze labor, equipment, and subcontractor quotes to create comprehensive project budgets.
- Manage multiple estimation projects simultaneously while maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines.
- Collaborate with owner to negotiate pricing, scope adjustments, and contract terms that align with project goals.
- Perform site visits to gather on-the-ground insights that influence accurate cost assessments and project planning.
- Prepare detailed spreadsheets and reports for cost management, budget tracking, and proposal submissions.
- Review construction contracts to ensure scope clarity, risk mitigation, and alignment with estimates.
- Communicate effectively with owner, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams to facilitate smooth project execution.
- Support project managers during the bidding process by providing reliable estimates that reflect current market conditions.
Experience
- Proven experience in construction estimating for commercial projects within the construction industry. *experience with government contracts a plus*
- Strong proficiency with estimating software.
- Extensive knowledge of blueprint reading, interpreting technical drawings, and reviewing construction plans.
- Hands-on construction site experience combined with construction management understanding enhances estimation accuracy.
- Demonstrated ability managing multiple projects efficiently while maintaining attention to detail.
- Excellent negotiation skills for pricing discussions with clients and subcontractors.
- Familiarity with contracts, cost control methods, material cost estimating, and construction budgeting processes.
- Background in construction industry standards related to cost management, material requirements estimation from blueprints, and construction site safety protocols is highly desirable.
Pay: $38,000.00 - $45,000.00 per year
