This role is new to our organization and will lead our newest department, Community Haven. Community Haven is being created because we see an opportunity to grow, innovate, and better serve community members facing housing-related challenges.
The Community Haven Manager at Love in Action (LIA) will play a vital role in equipping and supporting team of volunteers as they come alongside community members facing housing-related challenges, including affordable housing, emergency shelter, homelessness navigation, rent and utility assistance, home repairs, and other housing needs.
This position will help foster a culture of belonging by recognizing the inherent value and dignity of every individual. The Community Haven Manager will ensure that each community member is served with compassion, respect, and access to comprehensive resources that support long-term stability and well-being.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Innovation & Development
As the first Community Haven Manager, you will:
- Embrace ambiguity and enjoy building systems, processes, and solutions where a clear roadmap does not yet exist.
- Lead with curiosity, experimentation, learning, and continuous improvement.
- Be comfortable building new systems, refining processes, and creating structure in a developing environment while remaining flexible and mission-focused.
- Support the growth of the department through a combination of strategic thinking and hands-on execution.
- Identify opportunities to strengthen services, partnerships, and outcomes for community members experiencing housing instability.
- Enjoy working with people who self-select as volunteers as part of a purpose-built team to serve others.
Leadership & Program Management
Outreach
- Develop and cultivate an outreach-minded team focused on seeing the unseen, hearing the unheard, and restoring a sense of value and belonging to those who feel overlooked.
- Foster meaningful connections within the community and actively seek opportunities to engage individuals facing housing-related challenges.
Community
- Cultivate a welcoming, supportive, and relationship-centered environment for all participants in the Community Haven program.
- Promote a culture of listening, empathy, and mutual respect throughout every aspect of the department.
Program Operations
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve program processes and procedures to ensure effective, dignified, and compassionate service delivery.
- Oversee services related to homelessness prevention, shelter navigation, financial assistance, home repairs, housing stabilization, and other housing-related support.
- Evaluate program effectiveness and recommend improvements based on community needs and outcomes.
Volunteer Engagement
- Recruit, onboard, train, and support volunteers.
- Facilitate volunteer meetings, coordinate schedules, and ensure appropriate coverage for program activities.
- Foster volunteer growth through ongoing training, coaching, discernment, and accessible leadership.
Facilities & Resources
- Maintain a clean, organized, and dignified environment that reflects the values of Love in Action.
- Ensure resources, supplies, and program materials are well-stocked, accessible, and ready to meet community needs.
Collaboration & Resource Access
Internal Collaboration
- Work closely with all Love in Action departments to provide seamless service delivery and access to comprehensive wraparound support.
Community Partnerships
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with community organizations, agencies, churches, landlords, contractors, and other partners to expand access to housing-related resources and services.
Education
- Coordinate, populate and promote housing-related educational opportunities that equip community members with knowledge, resources, and practical life skills.
- Support classes, and resource-sharing opportunities that foster housing stability and self-sufficiency.
Reporting & Evaluation
- Accurately document services, referrals, and outcomes.
- Prepare reports and provide regular updates to leadership regarding program activities, impact, trends, and opportunities for improvement.
Special Events
- Participate in and support Love in Action events, initiatives, volunteer activities, and community engagement opportunities.
