APEX MOBILE AUTOTECH | Mobile Automotive Technician | $45–$55+/hr
Locally Owned & Operated — Albuquerque, New Mexico
Apex Mobile AutoTech is a growing, locally owned mobile automotive repair company providing professional diagnostics, maintenance, and repair directly at our customers' locations.
We're looking for an experienced automotive technician who wants the independence and earning potential of mobile repair without being left on their own when they need help.
As Apex grows, the owner's role is transitioning from performing every repair personally to supporting our technicians—managing scheduling, sourcing and running parts, assisting with difficult diagnostics, providing an extra set of hands when needed, and performing quality control.
You focus on fixing vehicles. We'll help keep you moving.
What You'll Do
You'll travel to scheduled customer locations throughout Albuquerque and surrounding areas to perform general automotive diagnostics and repairs, including:
- Check-engine-light and drivability diagnostics
- Electrical diagnostics and repairs
- Brakes
- Steering and suspension
- Cooling systems
- Starting and charging systems
- Alternators and starters
- Wheel bearings, hubs, and CV axles
- Belts, hoses, sensors, and tune-ups
- General engine repairs
- Preventative maintenance and inspections
We don't expect one technician to know everything. We do expect you to diagnose before replacing parts, use professional repair information, verify your work, and ask for another opinion when needed.
What Apex Provides
Mobile work requires independence, but you won't be left hanging in the field.
Apex provides:
- ALLDATA and professional repair information
- Manufacturer procedures, wiring diagrams, specifications, and TSBs
- Owner support with difficult diagnostics and second opinions
- Parts sourcing and parts-running support
- Scheduling and customer-service support
- Quality-control assistance
- Access to specialty tools and diagnostic equipment when available
- An extra set of hands when needed and available
If you're unsure, call.
We'd rather help verify a diagnosis than replace unnecessary parts or perform the same repair twice.
What You Bring
Technicians must currently provide:
- Their own professional automotive hand tools
- A reliable personal vehicle capable of transporting tools and equipment
- Valid driver's license
- 2+ years professional automotive repair experience preferred
- General automotive diagnostic and repair ability
- Ability to use automotive scan tools
- Basic electrical diagnostic ability
- Ability to read wiring diagrams and repair information
- Reliable smartphone communication
- Professional attitude and appearance
Your vehicle doesn't need to be new or perfect. It needs to be reliable and capable of consistently performing mobile work.
We don't expect you to own every specialty tool. Apex will continue investing in specialty tools, diagnostic equipment, and company resources as we grow.
Pay: $45–$55+ Per Hour
Starting pay is based on experience, diagnostic ability, electrical troubleshooting skills, certifications, range of repairs, and demonstrated ability.
$55/hour is not a hard cap.
Exceptional technicians with advanced diagnostic skills, broad repair experience, leadership ability, or other valuable qualifications may earn more.
We're not looking for the cheapest technician.
We're looking for the right technician—and we're willing to pay for skill.
Monthly Quality Bonus
Technicians who complete the month with no technician-caused comebacks are eligible for an additional Monthly Quality Bonus.
A customer returning does not automatically count as a comeback. Defective parts, unrelated failures, pre-existing conditions, and circumstances outside the technician's control will be reviewed fairly.
The goal is simple:
Reward technicians for doing quality work correctly the first time.
Benefits & Opportunities
- Paid Time Off (PTO)
- Monthly Quality Bonus
- Flexible scheduling
- ALLDATA and professional repair resources
- Parts sourcing and parts-running support
- Paid training and continuing education opportunities
- ASE certification exam reimbursement after 1 year of employment
- Apex uniforms/workwear
- Employee parts discount
- Advancement and Lead Technician opportunities
- Opportunity to attend AAPEX & the SEMA Show in Las Vegas
- Access to company specialty tools/equipment when available
Company Work Van Opportunity
Technicians must currently provide their own reliable vehicle.
As technicians demonstrate reliability, quality workmanship, customer satisfaction, and maintain profitable job volume, Apex is willing to invest in dedicated company work vans and mobile service setups.
This is an opportunity for proven technicians rather than a guaranteed starting benefit.
Our Standard
Diagnose it correctly. Repair it correctly. Verify your work.
Efficiency matters. Rushing doesn't.
Nobody knows everything. We'd rather have a technician say:
“I'm not sure yet. Let me test it.”
than confidently guess and cost the customer money.
Use ALLDATA. Read the diagram. Check the specification. Perform the test. Ask for another opinion when necessary.
Then fix it correctly.
Opportunity to Grow
We're not hiring someone simply to fill today's schedule.
We're building Apex.
Technicians who demonstrate skill, reliability, good judgment, customer satisfaction, and profitability will have opportunities for increased earning potential, additional equipment, training, Lead Technician positions, and greater responsibility as Apex expands.
If you help Apex grow, we want Apex to create opportunities for you to grow too.
