We are seeking an entry-level Histology Technician I to join our 1st shift team. In this role, you will receive hands-on training to develop core histology and laboratory skills while supporting pre-trim and trimming processes. You will work under close supervision in a collaborative, fast-paced research environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Learn and perform basic histology and laboratory procedures (Pre-Trim and intro to trimming)
- Ensure animal welfare and humane care through proper handling practices
- Complete onboarding training including GLP, Animal Welfare, and safety protocols
- Collect, record, and verify data and documentation (paper and electronic systems)
- Follow study protocols, SOPs, and regulatory guidelines (GLP, IACUC)
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment and instruments
- Perform quality control checks on documentation and processes
- Manage multiple tasks and meet time-sensitive deadlines
- Maintain a safe work environment using proper PPE and procedures
- Collaborate with team members and communicate clearly
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED (preferred)
- No prior experience required (paid training provided)
- Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office; ability to learn new systems)
- Strong communication, organization, and teamwork skills
- Ability to follow detailed procedures and work in a regulated environment
Schedule & Flexibility
- 1st Shift (Day Shift)
- Must be flexible to work:
- Extended hours
- Weekends or evenings as needed
- Occasional short-notice schedule changes
Physical Requirements
- Lift and carry up to 50 lbs (materials, equipment, or animals)
- Perform repetitive tasks: standing, sitting, bending, reaching
- Use hands for precise laboratory work and data entry
- Visual requirements: close vision, color vision, depth perception
Work Environment
- Laboratory setting with exposure to:
- Chemicals, biological materials, and sharp instruments
- Fumes, airborne particles, and moderate noise levels
- Must adhere to all OSHA safety standards and PPE requirements
Pay: Up to $19.00 per hour
