Position Summary
The DevOps Engineer supports mission-critical Department of War and Intelligence Community programs by designing, deploying, automating, and sustaining secure cloud and on-premises infrastructure supporting enterprise applications and platform services. Working within Agile and DevSecOps environments, the DevOps Engineer develops and maintains CI/CD pipelines, containerized applications, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and cloud-native solutions that improve system reliability, security, scalability, and operational readiness.
This position may be filled at the Junior, Mid-Level, or Senior level based on experience and demonstrated technical expertise.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Design, develop, automate, deploy, and maintain secure DevSecOps solutions supporting enterprise software applications and platform services.
- Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines supporting automated application builds, testing, security scanning, and deployment across multiple development, test, staging, production, and multi-security enclave environments.
- Architect, deploy, administer, and optimize cloud and on-premises infrastructure supporting enterprise applications, microservices, and platform services.
- Develop, deploy, and manage containerized applications utilizing Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift, Helm, and related container orchestration technologies.
- Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and configuration management solutions utilizing technologies such as Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation, AWS CDK, Chef, or Puppet.
- Configure and maintain GitLab CI/CD pipelines and other DevOps automation tools supporting continuous integration, continuous delivery, and secure software deployment.
- Integrate enterprise authentication services, access controls, monitoring, logging, vulnerability management, and security compliance into DevSecOps workflows.
- Monitor system performance, troubleshoot infrastructure and application issues, and optimize platform reliability, scalability, and operational efficiency.
- Manage software revisions, configuration management, security patches, system hardening, and operational documentation.
- Support Authority to Operate (ATO), Assessment and Authorization (A&A), RMF compliance, vulnerability remediation, and enterprise cybersecurity initiatives.
- Collaborate with software developers, system administrators, cybersecurity teams, and government stakeholders to implement secure, scalable, and maintainable enterprise solutions.
- Participate in Agile, Scrum, and SAFe ceremonies while supporting software delivery, operational readiness, and continuous process improvement.
- Senior-level engineers may lead architecture decisions, mentor junior engineers, establish DevSecOps standards, and provide technical leadership across multiple projects.
Required Qualifications
- Active Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) security clearance.
- U.S. Citizenship.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Junior: 2+ years of DevOps, Systems Administration, Cloud Engineering, or related experience.
- Mid-Level: 5+ years of relevant experience supporting enterprise DevSecOps environments.
- Senior: 8+ years of enterprise DevOps engineering experience with demonstrated technical leadership.
- Experience supporting Linux-based environments.
- Experience with containerization technologies including Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift, and Helm.
- Experience developing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines utilizing GitLab or comparable DevOps platforms.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation, AWS CDK, Ansible, Chef, Puppet, or equivalent).
- Experience with Python, Bash, or Shell scripting.
- Knowledge of networking concepts including TCP/IP, DNS, load balancers, firewalls, and enterprise infrastructure.
- Experience supporting cloud and/or on-premises enterprise environments.
- Strong understanding of DevSecOps methodologies, microservices architecture, configuration management, monitoring, logging, and secure software development.
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and documentation skills.

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting Intelligence Community or Department of War programs.
- Experience with AWS cloud services.
- Experience integrating security scanning, vulnerability management, and automated compliance into CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience with SQL databases and enterprise application deployments.
- Experience configuring authentication services, IAM, VPN, SSH, and enterprise access management.
- Experience with Jira, Confluence, GitLab, Jenkins, or similar collaboration and DevOps tools.
- Experience supporting Agile software development and SAFe methodologies.
- Technical certifications such as Security+, Network+, Kubernetes, AWS, Red Hat OpenShift, Terraform, or other cloud and DevOps certifications.
Experience supporting NGA enterprise environments or similar classified mission systems.

- Knowledge of containerization, Kubernetes orchestration, OpenShift administration, Helm, and microservices architecture.

- Ability to automate complex deployment and operational processes across secure enterprise environments.
- Ability to troubleshoot infrastructure, application, and deployment issues while maintaining operational continuity.
- Ability to communicate effectively with software developers, system administrators, cybersecurity personnel, and government stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a cross-functional engineering team supporting mission-critical operations.
- Senior-level engineers must demonstrate the ability to mentor technical staff, provide architectural guidance, and lead enterprise DevSecOps initiatives.
