Position: QA Administrative Coordinator

We are a seafood processing company with 40 employees. Our company has been growing quickly the last two years, and this position will provide an excellent opportunity for the right person to gain experience in quality assurance and operations.
This is a full-time position. Normal operating hours 7:00 am to 4:00 pm.
SUMMARY
Under general supervision, performs physical and chemical analysis of frozen fish and meats and related materials facilitating the production of frozen raw ingredients. Monitor department's safety practices, procedures and quality system.
Lab Duties and Responsibilities -60% job duties
· Supervise lab tech and assist with lab operations as needed
· Monitor and order lab supplies
· Performs analysis of frozen fish and meats using a variety of methods, including CEM moisture and fat analyzer, ash analyzer and other specialized methods.
· General housekeeping of laboratory area.
· Supervise interior janitorial staff and maintain cleaning records
· Accurately transcribes lab results to appropriate forms or databases.
· Operates, maintains, and troubleshoots laboratory instruments as required.
· Receives, prioritizes tests, and reports results in a timely manner.
· Responsible for understanding and complying with applicable quality, environmental and safety regulatory consideration.
· Maintain paperwork for QA inspections and lab operations
· Take weekly inventory of chemical supplies
Administrative Duties and Responsibilities- 40% job duties
· Administrative duties processing new employee applications
· Manage supply delivery and receiving documents
· Assist with scheduling employee trainings
· Assist with new employee orientation
· Assist HR department with employee documents
· Assist with handling front office visitors
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
· High school diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
· Bachelor degree or Associate degree with a minimum of 4 semesters/4 quarters of completed college level chemistry or biology courses with lab.
· OR
· Bachelor’s degree or Associate’s degree plus 1 year of laboratory technician experience
· OR
· 3 years of Laboratory Technician experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibilities.
· Skilled in writing simple correspondence.
· Skilled in adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing using whole numbers.
· Required to work overtime when necessary, most days have 1 hour of overtime.
· Required to be at least 21 years of age.
· Required to lift and move 40 pounds.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
· Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry, food science, or biology plus 1 year Laboratory Technician experience.
· Strong verbal, written, analytical and interpersonal skills.
· Skilled in the use of MS Excel and MS Word at a basic level.
· Experience reading and interpreting documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
· Skilled in working with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.
· Skilled in applying concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
· Experience solving practical problems and dealing with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
· Skilled in interpreting a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
