Job Summary
Manages the day-to-day Patient Access operations for Davis Medical Center, Broaddus Hospital, Webster Memorial Hospital, and all clinics . Ensures accurate demographic and financial data collection and efficient, patient-friendly services to support the financial viability of the organization. Provides supervisory oversight for day-to-day functions and makes disciplinary decisions. Reports directly to the Vice President and CFO .
Responsibilities
Selects, trains/orients, assigns department staff, evaluates performance (including annual performance reviews), and makes decisions for pers onnel actions for the following: Patient Access Coordinators and Patient Access & Scheduling Specialist Level II’s .
Ensures the patient access functions of the Health System run smoothly and efficiently by overseeing operations, scheduling of staff, call offs, an d expediting problems as needed.
Assists in developing departmental budgets and operates within budget.
Continuously evaluates the effectiveness and efficiency of Patient Access processes.
Accurately completes consent forms and other legal documents according to Medicare, Medicaid, other government regulations, and established DHS policies.
Creates and updates policies and procedures relating to Patient Access areas. Coordinates/provides training to Patient Access leaders on new procedures. Provides education on updates for payor requirements as needed .
Ma intains liaison with physicians, nurses and administrative staff to resolve problems and to address interdepartmental issues and concerns.
Serves as a resource for Patient Access leaders and staff to ensure compliance with gover nmental and regulatory agencies.
Maintains department reports, records and collects statistical data for administrative and regulatory purposes.
Promotes a team environment and exhibits effective communication while facilitating communication within the Patient Access departments.
Monitors Patient Access productivity for errors and accuracy and communicates back to patient access leaders.
Maintains Standard work book and educating of staff with process changes within the department.
Demonstrates proficiency in using established software systems.
Maintains department records, reports, and files as required .
Maintains and cares for department equipment and supplies.
Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives , supports quality assessment and performance improvement processes, adheres to safety, environmental and infection control standards.
Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in- service meetings, and workshops.
Maintain patient confidentiality per HIPAA rules and regulations.
Attends Meeting as required .
Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Working knowledge of MS Office, automated systems and network environment
Familiarity with medical terminology
Working knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid and other governmental payers
Experience with electronic scheduling & registration systems
Ability to manager, direct and educate staff
Excellent written and oral communication skills Prioritize skills
Multi-tasking efficiently and effectively

Education
- Bachelor's Degree
- Associate's Degree
- High School Diploma or GED (Required)
- Bachelor's DegreeEducation may be substituted 5-10 years Management experience.
