Position Overview
We are seeking a proactive, hands-on Technical Services, Quality & Environmental Manager to succeed a long-tenured industry veteran retiring in less than two years. This is a unique opportunity with a comprehensive, structured 18-month paid mentorship and transition period to ensure your absolute success.
You will oversee all technical aspects of our metal finishing operations, manage quality assurance, ensure strict environmental compliance, and lead a dedicated plant floor team. The ideal candidate thrives in a production plant environment, values a "boots-on-the-ground" leadership style, and possesses a strong background in electroplating chemistry and regulatory paperwork.
Key Responsibilities
- Team Leadership: Directly manage and mentor 3 Technical Services Personnel and 1 Waste Treatment Operator.
- Quality Assurance: Oversee the technical integrity of our zinc electroplating lines, custom coatings, and overall quality management system (QMS).
- Environmental & Regulatory Compliance: Accurate completion, tracking, and filing of all regulatory forms required by local, state, and federal agencies (EPA, OSHA, local wastewater/POTW).
- Hands-on Operations: Maintain an active daily presence on the plant floor to troubleshoot chemistry, plating defects, and waste treatment processes.
- Succession Training: Actively participate in a structured knowledge-transfer program, shadowing the retiring manager to learn proprietary processes and localized compliance networks.
Qualifications
- Experience: 5+ years of experience in metal finishing, electroplating (zinc strongly preferred), or industrial coatings.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Proven experience handling environmental compliance documentation and managing industrial wastewater operations.
- Leadership: Demonstrated experience managing technical personnel or plant operations staff.
- Education: A degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Chemistry is a major plus, but equivalent hands-on industry experience is highly valued.
- Attributes: Exceptional problem-solving skills, strong organizational habits for paperwork, and a desire to be physically active on the production floor.
Pay: $95,000.00 - $125,000.00 per year
