Duties Include:
Schedule custodial, building/grounds maintenance, building security, periodic activities or routine repair tasks including summer vacation, break projects and security checks.
Directs the activities of custodians; prepares work schedules and coordinates employees for overtime with the Custodial Supervisor. Checks custodian work for completion and quality of work and provides instruction and assistance as needed.
Responds to requests for assistance from principal, teachers and others.
Monitors condition of building, equipment, grounds and playground equipment, tools and cleaning equipment, schedules and/or performs security and maintenance inspections.
Performs preventive maintenance, repairs and reports need for repairs to custodial supervisor or submits a work order.
Checks maintenance/repair supplies, parts and materials inventories. Orders supplies, parts and materials.
Monitors HVAC equipment operating condition. Repairs or recommends repair/replacement to Supervisor. Checks energy management system computer, boiler rooms and equipment rooms.
Performs cleaning tasks.
Coordinates and performs snow removal as necessary.
Receives, unloads and distributes equipment, supplies and materials.
Sets-up and tears down equipment, tables, chairs and bleachers for activities and athletic events.
Checks building and grounds for safety hazards, removes or reports hazards.
Secures building, locks and unlocks doors. Answers alarms.
Works positively and congenially with other employees and community members.
Demonstrates awareness and compliance with custodial department safety precautions.
Helps to maintain a safe environment by following safety protocols
Qualifications: High School diploma or equivalent; ability to read and follow directions and instructions; ability to work under minimal supervision, and to relate to people.
1 - 2 years custodial experience; management/supervisor experience preferred.
A valid drivers license and good driving record is required.
Physical abilities include lifting/moving, bending, stooping, climbing and reaching. Previous experience in a school or commercial setting is desired.
Good interpersonal skills to work with a variety of adults and students.
