We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Medical Biller or billing assistant to join our team. As a Medical Biller, or billing assistant you will be responsible for accurately billing and coding medical procedures and services. Duties:
- Ensure compliance with all relevant coding guidelines and regulations
- Prepare and submit claims to insurance companies electronically or by paper
- Follow up on unpaid claims and denials, resolving any issues or discrepancies
- Process payments from insurance companies, patients, or other third-party payers
- Maintain accurate patient billing records, including updating demographic information and insurance details
- Collaborate with medical office staff to ensure accurate documentation and coding practices
- Stay up-to-date with changes in coding guidelines, reimbursement policies, and industry trends
Experience:
- Proven experience as a Medical Biller or in a similar role within a medical office setting
- Strong knowledge of medical coding systems (ICD-9, ICD-10) and billing procedures
- Familiarity with medical terminology and procedures
- Proficient in using medical billing software systems
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in coding and billing processes
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with patients, insurance companies, and healthcare providers
