Assistant Teacher – Family Childcare | Lilly Gardens Learning Center (Milwaukee, WI)
Lilly Gardens Learning Center is seeking a caring and dependable Assistant Teacher to support daily classroom activities in our family childcare program. This role involves assisting with a mixed-age group, helping maintain a safe and nurturing environment, and supporting the Lead Teacher with routines, supervision, and engaging activities. The ideal candidate is patient, reliable, and passionate about working with children.
What You'll Do
Duties:

Assist the Lead Teacher with daily activities and routines

Supervise children at all times to ensure safety and well-being
-
Help maintain a clean, organized, and nurturing environment

Support implementation of age-appropriate activities for a mixed-age group

Assist with meals, snacks, and daily transitions
-
Help with diapering, toileting, and hygiene routines
-
Maintain daily reports, attendance, and required documentation
-
Communicate respectfully with children, staff, and families
Requirements
✅ Requirements:
-
Must meet Wisconsin Assistant Teacher qualifications (Registry Level preferred)
-
Experience working with children (childcare or related setting preferred)
-
Ability to support a mixed-age group of children
-
CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)

Reliable, patient, and professional

Able to pass background check and meet all state licensing requirements

Valid driver’s license preferred, but not required
Nice To Haves

Registry Level 4 or higher

Experience in a family childcare setting

Knowledge of Wisconsin childcare licensing rules

Experience assisting with lesson plans and activities

Strong communication and teamwork skills
