BakerRipley's Stability & Connection division seeks an immigration fellow for the Marc Shapiro Immigration Fellowship position.The fellow will be responsibile for assisting the organization's immigration legal services program. Specifically, the fellow will be responsible for providing legal consultations and representing immigrants in the Greater Houston area, under the supervision of the Supervising Immigration Attorney. The fellow should be capable of working in a fast-paced environment where collaboration is key. The team looks forward to welcoming a new team member who will be eager to help immigrants in a holistic manner. The Immigration Fellow will report to the Supervising Immigration Attorney. In this role, the Immigration Fellow will do the following:
Provide direct and comprehensive immigration legal services to eligible clients before USCIS and EOIR under the supervision of the Supervising Immigration Attorney.
Maintain client databases and filed and provide reports, as required.
Participate in education and outreach to the immigrant community in collaboration with other attorneys, social workers, and Department of Justice accredited representatives.
Assist in the organization and implementation of community forums that will inform and engage community members seeking legal assistance and provide assisted pro se representation.
Conduct research on immigration-related legal and regulatory changes.
Engage with a wide range of individuals, including members of the immigration bar, law students at local schools, and officials in collaboration with the Program Director and the Supervising Attorney.
