Job Summary
We are seeking energetic and compassionate Day Program Support Staff (DSP) to join our dedicated team in providing engaging, supportive, and enriching daytime activities for individuals with developmental disabilities. Duties
- Assist individuals with developmental disabilities and autism in participating in daily activities, ensuring safety and engagement at all times
- Support participants with activities that promote social skills, communication, and behavioral health goals
- Help with personal care routines including assisting with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as grooming, hygiene, and mobility support
- Collect data on participant progress and behavior to inform care plans and track outcomes effectively
- Administer medications following prescribed protocols when required and authorized by healthcare professionals
- Drive participants to community outings or appointments safely, ensuring adherence to transportation policies
- Maintain detailed records of participation, behavior management strategies used, and any incidents that occur during the program
Skills
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, autism, or behavioral health needs
- Knowledge of special education principles and effective behavior management techniques
- Strong communication skills to interact clearly with participants, families, and team members
- Ability to assist with ADLs and provide caregiving support in a respectful manner
- Familiarity with home & community care practices and supporting individuals in various settings
- Valid driver’s license and safe driving record for transporting clients when necessary
- Must be dependable, patient, and willing to work with individuals with IDD and behavioral health needs
- Must be able to follow directions and work as part of a team
- Experience in direct care, day support, group home, CNA, DSP, or IDD services is preferred
- Must be able to pass all required background checks
- Required trainings include CPR, First Aid, Seizure, Bloodborne Pathogens, NCI, and Medication Management
