Key Responsibilities:
- Performing turning, drilling, tapping, reaming, boring, facing, and similar machining operations on CNC controlled machines to produce a variety of parts composed of materials such as: steel, brass, bronze, aluminum, stainless steel, etc.
- Assisting with changings of feeders, pads, guide bushing to accommodate the various sizes of stock.
- Downloading programs to the machines. Sequence of operations, cams and tooling are generally prescribed.
- Mounting and clamping tools in the machine.
- Positioning cams in the machine and adjust for proper timing of operations.
- Adapting standard cams and tools to special and short run jobs.
- Following instructions on the cover sheet as to tool grinding requirements and turret location.
- Detecting faulty operation or defective material and reporting these and/or any unusual conditions to foreman.
- Inspecting the parts at frequent intervals to assure that the print specifications are being maintained.
- Replacing or sharpening worn out tools, as necessary.
- Removing chips from the machine and dispose in proper location. Maintain the machines as required by cleaning, oiling and greasing, etc.
- Performing all duties in compliance with all safety and health regulations.
- Keeping the work area clean, orderly, and safe.
Qualifications:
- Technical diploma and/or one to two years related experience or equivalent with CNC machinery.
- Minimum of 1 year experience working at a CNC operator.
