Description:
Under direct supervision, oversees the operation and production of a number of tables and other assembly devices producing materials and parts for assembly into a variety of wood based components.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Assemble precut wooden parts to build trusses and similar supports.

Move specified precut parts to work area and positions parts in jig by hand.

Following supervisor’s’ instructions and blueprint specifications.

Places metal reinforcement plates over connecting joints connect parts at joints, using hammer, pneumatic staple gun.

Verifies dimensions of precut parts and accuracy of assembly.

Understands and observes all safety procedures and practices in order to prevent injury to self or co-workers; attends periodic safety meetings as required; may recommend changes to improve safety procedures.

Other duties may be assigned.
COMPETENCIES
-
Knowledge of construction tools and practices a plus.

Knowledge of safety procedures while performing lumber handling and sawing tasks

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.

Ability to read and understand simple diagrams or blueprints.

Knowledge of basic math, angles and use of measuring tools
Requirements:
WORK ENVIRONMENT / PHYSICAL ACTIVITY The work environment and physical activity described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

Work is performed within a production environment, subject to temperature variations, mechanical parts, increased noise levels and dust.

Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds frequently and on occasion up to 120 pounds.

May be required to perform specific tasks that involve climbing, lifting, pushing or kneeling.
