Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Part Time Surgical Registered Veterinary Technician on Thursday and Friday to join our dynamic veterinary team. In this vital role, you will support surgical procedures by providing expert animal care, assisting with anesthesia, and ensuring a sterile, safe environment for our patients. Your expertise will help deliver exceptional veterinary services while fostering a compassionate atmosphere for pets and their owners. Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarians during surgical procedures by preparing instruments, maintaining aseptic technique, and monitoring patient status.
- Administer anesthesia using general anesthesia protocols, monitor veterinary anesthesia parameters, and manage animal sedation to ensure safety throughout procedures.
- Perform vascular access procedures including IV insertion and animal catheterization to facilitate medication administration and fluid therapy.
- Support pre-operative and post-operative animal care, including animal restraint, handling, and monitoring vital signs during critical and intensive care.
- Conduct laboratory work such as phlebotomy, diagnostic radiology (X-ray), and veterinary laboratory tests to aid in diagnosis and treatment planning.
- Operate medical equipment effectively, including radiology diagnostics tools, anesthesia monitors, and other veterinary surgical instruments.
- Communicate clearly with pet owners regarding procedures, post-operative care instructions, and answer questions related to pet health with professionalism and empathy.
Skills:
- Strong understanding of veterinary terminology, animal physiology, anatomy, and veterinary critical care practices.
- Skilled in dog handling, animal restraint techniques, and pet grooming to facilitate smooth procedures.
- Experience with veterinary anesthesia monitoring, IV insertion, animal catheterization, and emergency medicine protocols.
- Familiarity with veterinary software systems for record keeping and diagnostic radiology imaging processes.
- Ability to perform laboratory tasks such as phlebotomy and diagnostic testing efficiently.
- Knowledge of veterinary surgical assistance procedures along with medical equipment operation for optimal patient outcomes.
