Role Description
TEG Engineering is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer (PE) to lead the design and delivery of MSE retaining wall systems and specialty precast concrete structures.
This role is responsible for full project execution—from initial concept through final submittal—while managing internal resources and coordinating with clients, contractors, and Engineers of Record (EORs). This is a hybrid position based in Wyoming, MI, with flexibility for remote work.
Key Responsibilities
Project Leadership & Management
· Manage multiple MSE wall and precast concrete projects simultaneously from kickoff through final delivery
· Develop project scopes, schedules, and design strategies based on contract documents and client needs
· Coordinate internal engineering and CAD resources to meet deadlines and production goals
· Identify and communicate project risks, constraints, and required inputs early
Engineering Design & Oversight
· Lead design of MSE retaining walls including global stability, internal stability, and connection design
· Perform and/or review structural calculations in accordance with AASHTO and applicable state DOT standards
· Oversee design of specialty precast elements including panels, coping, and connection systems
· Ensure designs are practical, constructible, and aligned with precast production capabilities
Technical Review & Quality Control
· Serve as Engineer of Record (when applicable) or lead internal technical reviewer for submittals
· Review calculations, drawings, and specifications for accuracy, completeness, and compliance
· Maintain high standards of quality and consistency across all deliverables
Client & Stakeholder Coordination
· Act as primary point of contact for clients, contractors, and EORs
· Respond to RFIs, submittal comments, and field issues with clear technical justification
· Participate in design coordination meetings and provide engineering recommendations
Mentorship & Team Development
· Provide technical guidance and mentorship to Staff Engineers and CAD Technicians
· Support development of internal design tools, standards, and workflows to improve efficiency
· Assist in training junior staff on MSE wall design and precast detailing practices
Salary Range
$90,000 – $120,000 annually (commensurate with experience)
Qualifications
· Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) required
· Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (Master’s preferred but not required)
· 5–10+ years of experience in structural engineering, with emphasis on retaining wall systems and/or precast concrete
· Demonstrated experience with MSE wall design (AASHTO-based design strongly preferred)
· Strong understanding of structural analysis, soil-structure interaction, and foundation design principles
· Experience managing projects, schedules, and internal resources
· Proficiency with design software and familiarity with MicroStation or AutoCAD workflows
· Excellent communication skills with ability to interface directly with clients and contractors
· Strong attention to detail and ability to balance multiple priorities
