Position Summary
The Agent in Charge (AIC) serves as a key operational leader within the dispensary, supporting daily retail execution, compliance oversight, team development, and customer experience standards. Acting as the designated on-site Agent in Charge in accordance with Illinois cannabis regulations, this role helps ensure the dispensary operates safely, efficiently, and compliantly during all assigned shifts.
The AIC is a hands-on leadership position designed for motivated cannabis retail professionals who are ready to expand their operational knowledge and leadership capabilities. Key ResponsibilitiesLeadership & Store Operations
- Serve as the designated Agent in Charge (AIC) in compliance with Illinois cannabis regulations during assigned shifts.
- Support the General Manager and Assistant General Manager with daily dispensary operations and execution of company initiatives.
- Oversee store opening and closing procedures, including keyholder responsibilities and security protocols.
- Provide real-time leadership support to Sales Associates by coaching service standards, compliance expectations, and operational procedures.
- Assist in maintaining an organized, efficient, and customer-focused retail environment.
- Lead by example through professionalism, accountability, communication, and teamwork.
Customer Experience
- Ensure all customers receive an exceptional, welcoming, and compliant dispensary experience.
- Address customer concerns, questions, and escalations with professionalism, empathy, and sound judgment.
- Support sales performance through product knowledge, team engagement, and service-focused leadership.
- Reinforce company standards surrounding customer service, education, and hospitality.
Compliance & Inventory Management
- Maintain strict adherence to Illinois cannabis regulations, company policies, and standard operating procedures.
- Conduct routine compliance checks, staff checkouts, and bag checks as required.
- Assist with inventory management including receiving deliveries, product transfers, merchandising, cycle counts, and Metrc tracking.
- Ensure accuracy and accountability in all retail transactions and inventory handling procedures.
- Support audit readiness and operational compliance initiatives.
Cash Handling & Administrative Duties
- Perform cash handling responsibilities including register reconciliation, safe counts, and cash accountability procedures.
- Support promotional campaigns, loyalty programs, and coupon code validation.
- Complete assigned operational reports, shift tasks, and daily documentation accurately and timely.
- Assist leadership with operational priorities and special projects as needed.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Provide leadership support and peer guidance to Sales Associates during assigned shifts.
- Act as the primary floor leader when Store Manager or Assistant Store Manager is not present.
- Help foster a positive, accountable, and collaborative team environment.
QualificationsRequired Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of cannabis retail, retail leadership, or customer service experience required.
- Strong understanding of customer service and retail operations.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, highly regulated environment.
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Cash handling and retail operational experience required.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Must be eligible to obtain and maintain all required Illinois cannabis credentials, including state agent registration and background clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous dispensary keyholder, shift lead, or supervisory experience preferred.
- Working knowledge of Illinois cannabis compliance regulations and Metrc preferred.
- Experience with Dutchie POS or comparable retail management systems.
- Leadership mindset with interest in career growth and professional development.

Physical Requirements
While performing the duties of this role, employees are regularly required to:
- Stand and walk for extended periods of time
- Frequently bend, reach, and perform repetitive motions

- Use standard retail and office equipment, including POS systems and computers

- Evening, weekend, and holiday availability may be required based on business needs
