Duties
- Safely operate tractor-trailers, flatbeds, tankers, and refrigerated trailers along over-the-road (OTR) routes while complying with FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations and DOT (Department of Transportation) standards
- Load and unload freight using manual handling techniques, ensuring proper cargo securing and adherence to hazardous materials regulations when transporting dangerous goods
- Navigate routes efficiently using GPS navigation systems to meet delivery schedules and optimize fuel consumption
- Transport automobile parts or vehicles securely via automobile transportation methods, ensuring damage-free delivery
- Manage the documentation process for freight movement, including load manifests and delivery receipts
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections on trucks and trailers to identify maintenance needs or safety concerns
- Follow all safety protocols related to hazardous materials handling, including proper loading/unloading procedures for dangerous goods
Qualifications
- Proven experience in commercial truck driving, including route driving and delivery driving with a focus on freight transportation
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with endorsements for hazardous materials (Hazmat), manual transmission operation, and tanker or flatbed loads preferred
- Knowledge of FMCSA regulations, hazardous materials regulations, and DOT compliance standards
- Skilled in truck loading and unloading techniques, with experience handling logistics cargo securely
- Ability to operate GPS navigation systems accurately in various environments
- Strong manual handling skills for load & unload tasks while maintaining safety standards
- Excellent driving record with a focus on safety and compliance in over-the-road (OTR) driving routes
- Physical ability to perform manual handling tasks required for truck loading/unloading operations
