Duties
- Prepare treatment rooms and sterilize dental instruments following infection control protocols using aseptic techniques.
- Assist dentists chairside during a variety of procedures including restorations, extractions, root canals, and prosthodontic treatments.
- Take and develop dental X-rays, including 3D scans when applicable, ensuring proper positioning and safety measures.
- Manage patient medical records and documentation accurately within EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft while maintaining HIPAA compliance.
- Monitor vital signs and medical history to support safe treatment planning for pediatric and adult patients.
- Provide excellent dental receptionist support by scheduling appointments, confirming patient information, and managing patient flow efficiently.
- Support medical imaging documentation and coding for insurance claims or referrals using Epic or similar platforms.
Skills
- Proficiency in dental assisting techniques including four-handed dentistry to enhance efficiency during procedures.
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and medical terminology relevant to dentistry.
- Experience with EMR systems like Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic for managing medical records and documentation.
- Skilled in infection control practices, aseptic technique, and maintaining a sterile environment in the clinic.
- Ability to operate dental equipment such as X-ray machines, 3D scanners, and other medical imaging tools safely and effectively.
- Familiarity with pediatric dentistry practices to provide compassionate care to young patients.
