Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Corporate Accountant Intern to join our dynamic finance team. Duties
- Assist with preparing and analyzing financial statements in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and regulatory standards
- Support month-end and year-end closing processes, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and ledger maintenance using software such as PeopleSoft, Sage, or Xero
- Help with accounts payable and receivable management, ensuring timely processing of invoices and payments
- Conduct bank reconciliations, balance sheet reconciliations, and general ledger reviews to ensure accuracy of financial data
- Participate in internal audits and SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) compliance activities to strengthen internal controls
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis to support strategic decision-making
- Contribute to the preparation of financial reports, management summaries, and regulatory filings with transparency and precision
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program in Accounting, Finance, or related field with a strong academic record
- Demonstrated understanding of accounting principles such as double entry bookkeeping, debits & credits, accrual accounting, and GAAP standards
- Familiarity with accounting software including QuickBooks, Quicken, PeopleSoft, Sage or Xero is highly desirable
- Basic knowledge of financial concepts such as cash flow analysis, balance sheet reconciliation, account analysis, and financial report interpretation
- Experience or coursework related to non-profit accounting, governmental accounting, securities law or technical accounting is a plus
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and report writing; familiarity with other financial software is advantageous
- Excellent attention to detail combined with strong organizational skills; ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently
- Effective communication skills for mentoring team members and collaborating across departments
- GPA 3.0 or higher
