We are seeking a driven and detail-oriented Mortgage Loan Officer Assistant to manage borrower prequalification, pre-approvals, and pipeline execution for a high-performing mortgage team. The Mortgage Loan Officer Assistant plays a critical role in ensuring loans are structured properly, communicated clearly, and closed on time.
This role works closely with the Loan Officer, borrowers, processors, underwriters, and third-party partners to maintain 95%+ on-time closings while delivering a concierge-level borrower and referral partner experience.
Compensation: $60,000 - $80,000 base salary with potential per-file bonus, based on performance and team structure.

Responsibilities:
Prequalify

Serve as an available resource for referral partners

Engage in soft qualification conversations to help assess general borrower readiness and scenario viability

Answer referral partner questions such as: condo warrantability, bank statement borrower scenarios, and recasting and general loan structure questions

Communicate effectively with all referral partners (Realtors, financial advisors, builders, and other partners) using clear, accurate, and compliant language
Pre-Approve
- Accurately pre-approve qualified borrowers

Prepare payment and scenario requests
-
Proactively engage pre-approved buyers
-
Communicate effectively with referral partners
Pipeline Management
- Onboard all new contracts for rate lock consultation
-
Submit applications for processing for disclosures
-
Execute borrower updates, pre-closing, and funding calls
-
Ensure 95%+ of loans close on time
-
Resolve 95%+ of loan issues prior to LO escalation
Essential Duties of This Position
Prequalify

Act as an available resource for referral partners when the Loan Officer is unavailable

Engage in soft qualification conversations to assess general borrower readiness and overall scenario viability

Respond to referral partner questions related to: Condo warrantability, bank statement borrower scenarios, recasting, and general loan structure questions

Communicate clearly, accurately, and compliantly with all referral partners, including Realtors, financial advisors, builders, and other strategic partners
Pre-Approve
- Communicate approval terms clearly to borrowers. Issue supplemental pre-approval documentation

Notify Realtors immediately after issuing approvals

Expedite rush pre-approval requests

Flag red flags to the LO or Team Captain

Dedicate weekly time to proactive pre-approval outreach
Pipeline
- Perform daily pipeline “gauge checks”

Attend pipeline meetings and milestone reviews
-
Deliver consistent borrower and Realtor updates
-
Review Closing Disclosures for accuracy

Conduct pre-closing and congratulatory funding calls
-
Provide post-closing support and urgent after-hours assistance

Qualifications:-
Active NMLS license is required

Minimum 2 years of mortgage loan officer assistant, processing, underwriting, or origination experience

Proficient in DU/DO, LP, and investor guidelines

Experience with major LOS platforms

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Excellent organization, prioritization, and time management

Ability to collaborate across departments

Completion of regulatory and compliance training
