Job Summary
We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professionals to provide high-quality care and support to individuals with disabilities, seniors, and those requiring assistance with daily living activities. This role involves fostering independence, ensuring safety, and promoting well-being within various care settings such as assisted living facilities, group homes, nursing homes, and community-based environments. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to person-centered care and possess the skills necessary to support residents' physical, emotional, and social needs.
Responsibilities
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and personal hygiene.
- Provide medication administration following prescribed protocols and maintain accurate documentation using EMR systems.
- Monitor vital signs and observe health status changes to report to healthcare professionals.
- Prepare nutritious meals in accordance with dietary plans and assist residents during mealtimes.
- Engage residents in social activities to promote mental stimulation and emotional well-being.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by assisting with light housekeeping tasks such as cleaning common areas and resident rooms.
- Drive residents when necessary for appointments or community outings, adhering to safe driving practices.
- Follow all safety protocols including first aid procedures, emergency response plans, and infection control measures.
Experience
Candidates should have prior experience working in long-term care settings such as nursing homes, assisted living facilities, or home & community care environments. Experience with assisted living, senior care, dementia or Alzheimer's care, medication administration, behavior management, and working with individuals with developmental disabilities is highly desirable. Successful candidates will demonstrate strong caregiving skills, patience, empathy, and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team in a dynamic environment.
