Schedule: Approximately 17–18 hours per month | Schedule coordinated with family
Pay: $40/hour | 1099 Independent Contractor (Weekly Pay)
Cottage Grove Home Care is seeking a compassionate and dependable Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to provide one-on-one skilled nursing care for a medically complex 18-year-old patient in the home setting. This is a part-time position averaging approximately 17–18 hours per month, ideal for an LPN looking for a small, consistent supplemental schedule.
Patient Overview:
- 18-year-old medically complex patient
- Nonverbal and nonambulatory
- Requires full assistance with all activities of daily living
- Wheelchair dependent with increased muscle tone and contractures
- Requires skilled nursing monitoring and oversight due to complex medical needs
Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one skilled nursing care according to the physician-ordered plan of care
- Perform nursing assessments and monitor for changes in condition within LPN scope of practice
- Administer medications and treatments as ordered
- Monitor neurological, respiratory, gastrointestinal, and overall clinical status
- Monitor for seizure activity and maintain appropriate safety precautions
- Monitor for signs of aspiration or respiratory compromise
- Provide appropriate positioning and assist with safe transfers and mobility
- Monitor skin integrity and implement pressure-injury prevention measures
- Assist with ADLs as needed, including bathing, dressing, toileting, hygiene, and feeding assistance
- Complete accurate and timely clinical documentation
- Communicate changes in condition or concerns promptly to caregivers and supervising clinical personnel
- Follow the patient's plan of care and agency policies and protocols
Requirements:
- Active, unrestricted Georgia LPN license
- Current CPR/BLS certification
- Current TB screening
- Pediatric, private-duty nursing, or home care experience preferred
- Experience caring for patients with neurological and physical disabilities preferred
- Comfortable caring for a nonverbal, nonambulatory, total-care patient
- Reliable, professional, and attentive to detail
- Comfortable working independently in the home setting
