Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Wound Care Specialist to join our dynamic healthcare team. Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive wound assessments, including measuring, photographing, and documenting wound characteristics using electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic and eClinicalWorks.
- Develop and implement individualized wound care plans utilizing advanced techniques such as debridement, dressings, skin grafts, and Botulinum toxin treatment when appropriate.
- Administer specialized treatments including suturing, IV infusion, sterile dressing changes, and dermal fillers in accordance with clinical protocols.
- Educate patients and their families on wound care procedures, infection prevention, nutrition, and lifestyle modifications to support healing.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, physical therapists, and other healthcare professionals in acute care settings like Level I Trauma Centers or hospitals with ICU experience to ensure coordinated patient care.
- Monitor healing progress through regular evaluations; adjust treatment plans based on physiological responses and diagnostic evaluation results such as laboratory tests or medical imaging.
- Maintain accurate medical documentation adhering to HIPAA standards; utilize EMR systems like Cerner or Athenahealth for efficient record keeping.
Experience
- Proven clinical experience in wound management within hospital medicine, emergency medicine, or critical care environments such as Level II or Level I trauma centers.
- Demonstrated proficiency with advanced wound care techniques including suturing, skin grafting, and sterile processing procedures.
- Familiarity with medical coding systems like CPT, ICD-10/ICD-9 for documentation purposes; experience with billing for procedures such as dermal fillers or spinal tap is a plus.
- Background working with diverse patient populations including pediatrics (pediatric care), geriatrics (geriatrics), assisted living residents, or individuals with developmental disabilities.
- Experience in telehealth consultations or outpatient clinics involving complex wound assessments and case management strategies.
- Knowledge of infection control practices and aseptic technique essential for preventing complications during treatment procedures.
- Prior exposure to specialty areas such as hospice & palliative medicine or post-acute care enhances your ability to deliver comprehensive wound solutions across the continuum of care.
