Responsibilities
- Structure, draft, review, and negotiate a variety of design, construction, and service contracts.
- Coordinate with outside counsel on legal matters, claims, and complex transactions.
- Provide internal guidance and support regarding permitting and entitlement issues.
- Manage and coordinate construction claims, litigation, arbitration, and mediation.
- Support pre-litigation legal disputes and inquiries, helping to mitigate risk and avoid claims.
- Provide day-to-day business legal assistance, ensuring adherence to company policies and best practices.
- Oversee insurance compliance and management for construction and service contracts.
- Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce risk.
- Assist with commercial transactions, from standard contracts to complex, high-value agreements.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with project managers, engineers, vendors, and legal teams to ensure smooth execution of projects and contracts.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Business, Law, or a related field (JD or paralegal certification preferred).
- 3–5+ years of experience in construction contract administration, legal coordination, or a similar role.
- Strong knowledge of construction law, contract structure, and risk management.
- Experience managing claims, insurance compliance, and dispute resolution.
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to analyze, interpret, and draft complex agreements with accuracy and clarity.
- Strong negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and contract management systems.
- Ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
- Familiarity with Hawaii construction regulations, permitting, and entitlement processes is a plus.
