Job Summary:
The Accounting Clerk is responsible for supporting the Accounting and Operations departments through account reconciliation, auditing, cash handling, and administrative functions. This position ensures the accuracy of customer billing, cargo documentation, and financial records while providing backup support for customer service and auditing functions. The Accounting Clerk will assist with daily accounting activities, maintain compliance with company procedures, and contribute to special projects as assigned.
Compensation: Starting at $22.00 p/hr

Essential Functions:

Reconcile outstanding customer accounts and research discrepancies to ensure timely and accurate account resolution.

Prepare and process daily bank deposits, maintaining accurate records and supporting documentation.

Audit inbound and outbound airway bills for accuracy, including rates, customer billing, account assignments, flight information, and supporting documentation.

Rate and process airway bills for special charter operations according to established pricing and billing procedures.

Identify, investigate, and correct billing errors or discrepancies discovered during the audit process.

Assist in maintaining freight billing controls and procedures to improve billing accuracy and reduce discrepancies.

Crosstrain with the Auditor and perform auditing duties as needed to provide departmental support and operational continuity.

Act as backup for Customer Service personnel during staffing shortages, peak periods, or operational needs.

Maintain accounting records and databases through accurate data entry, filing, document retention, and record maintenance.

Research, track, and resolve accounting, billing, and documentation issues in a timely manner.

Reconcile business and operational transactions to ensure accuracy and completeness of records.

Compile and prepare reports, records, and supporting documentation for management review.

Assist Accounting and Operations departments with daily administrative and accounting activities.

Assist with special projects, process improvements, and other duties as assigned.

Maintain strict confidentiality of financial, customer, and company information.

Qualificiations:
1. Valid Driver’s License is required.
2. Must be able to pass an Airport Background Criminal History Check.
3. Must be able to work effectively in a drug-free workplace and comply with company drug and alcohol policies.
4. Must be able available to work rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, and on-call schedules.
5. Proficient in computer literacy with experience in Microsoft Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word), and additional accounting software and databases is preferred.
6. A “quality-first” mindset with excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
7. Strong communication skills for interfacing customers and leadership.
8. High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field preferred.
9. Minimum one (1) year of accounting, bookkeeping, auditing, or related administrative experience preferred.
10. Knowledge of basic accounting principles, bookkeeping procedures, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and account reconciliation with an aptitude for numbers, data analysis, and recordkeeping is preferred.
