Lead the Launch of a New Dental Hygiene Program
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Dental Hygiene Program Chair to lead the development and growth of a new Dental Hygiene Program in Richmond, Virginia. This is a unique opportunity to help build a program from the ground up, shape curriculum, recruit faculty, and play a key role in preparing future dental hygiene professionals.
The program has received approval to move forward in the accreditation process, and we are looking for a leader who is passionate about education, compliance, and student success.
Position Summary
The Dental Hygiene Program Chair provides academic leadership, oversight, and strategic direction for the Dental Hygiene Program. This role is responsible for program development, faculty recruitment and mentorship, curriculum implementation, accreditation support, regulatory compliance, and student outcomes.
The Program Chair will work closely with campus leadership and regulatory agencies to ensure the program meets all accreditation standards and educational objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide leadership for the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of the Dental Hygiene Program
- Recruit, hire, train, and mentor full-time and part-time faculty
- Support accreditation activities and maintain compliance with applicable regulatory and accreditation standards
- Oversee curriculum development, assessment, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Monitor student retention, progression, and academic success
- Collaborate with campus leadership to ensure program growth and operational effectiveness
- Maintain accurate program records and reports
- Foster positive relationships with students, faculty, clinical partners, and regulatory agencies
- Participate in faculty meetings, campus initiatives, and professional development activities
- Teach courses as needed
QualificationsRequired
- Current, active Dental Hygiene license or Dental license
- Master's degree in any discipline
- Graduate of a CODA-accredited Dental Hygiene program with a Bachelor's degree
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Excellent computer, problem-solving, and analytical skills
- Ability to work effectively with students, faculty, administrators, and regulatory agencies
Preferred
- Minimum of 3 years of progressively responsible experience in higher education
- Academic leadership or management experience
- Experience in a proprietary or career college setting
- Previous teaching experience
