About the Role
MZ-Packaging is seeking a proactive, detail-oriented Quality Assurance Supervisor to support and improve the overall quality management system in our food and dietary supplement manufacturing environment. This position is ideal for someone who is ready to help build, maintain, and improve quality programs while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and customer expectations.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in developing, implementing, and improving quality programs to ensure safe, consistent, high-quality products.
- Maintain and oversee existing programs, including Environmental Monitoring Program (EMP), allergen control, sanitation, pest control, and Hold & Release.
- Conduct routine swabbing and testing according to EMP protocols.
- Perform finished product reviews and releases to ensure specifications, labeling, and regulatory requirements are met.
- Manage documentation systems including SOPs, batch records, forms, logs, and controlled documents, while maintaining version control and distribution accuracy.
- Maintain training records and ensure quality-related training is current and properly documented.
- Provide training on GMPs, food safety, sanitation, and other quality procedures and updates.
- Submit product samples to external labs, track results, and follow up on out-of-specification findings.
- Assist with hazard analyses for raw materials, ingredients, and manufacturing processes.
- Lead or support internal audits and prepare for third-party, customer, and regulatory audits, including FDA, NSF, and SQF.
- Support development and follow-up of Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA) related to non-conformances and audit findings.
- Manage and update the supplier approval program, including COA/COC review and supplier document control.
- Work cross-functionally with production, warehouse, maintenance, and R&D to ensure quality practices are followed and sustained.
- Promote continuous improvement through quality data review, process evaluation, and team feedback.
- Provide schedule flexibility, including support for team absences or other shifts when needed.
- Perform other related duties as needed to support business and operational needs.

- Reports to: Quality Manager
- Supervises: Quality Assurance personnel / QC team members
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Biology, Chemistry, Quality Assurance, or a related field, or equivalent relevant work experience.
- 2+ years of experience in a Quality Assurance or Quality Control role in a regulated manufacturing environment such as food, supplements, cosmetics, or pharmaceuticals.
- Strong working knowledge of cGMP, HACCP, FSMA, FDA requirements, and third-party certification standards such as SQF, NSF, or ISO.
- Experience managing or executing programs such as EMP, allergen control, sanitation, pest control, Hold & Release, and supplier approval.
- Demonstrated ability to manage documentation systems including SOPs, forms, logs, and training records.
- Familiarity with internal audits, external audits, audit readiness, and CAPA response development.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to learn document control or quality management systems.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively across departments.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Willingness to adjust work hours when needed to support quality operations.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to occasionally lift or carry up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to move between production, warehouse, laboratory, and office environments as needed.
Work Environment
- Work is performed in manufacturing, laboratory, and office settings.
- Some exposure to high-noise areas and standard manufacturing conditions is expected.
