The Opportunity
Reporting to the Store Manager, the Produce Department Manager is responsible for Produce department operation by achieving its profit/loss results, business goals, customer requests. The position also needs to support the Store Manager on other matters as assigned.
You Will:
- Oversee department performance, including merchandise management, ordering, and execution of promotional activities to achieve departmental goals.
- Supervise daily operations and staff performance to ensure efficiency and service excellence.
- Provide coaching, on-the-job training, and mentorship to team members; foster a supportive and inclusive work environment.
- Monitor product quality and freshness, ensuring FIFO practices are strictly followed.
- Collect and analyze market data to develop appropriate action plans and improve competitiveness.
- Perform quality checks during receiving and manage inventory in both display and walk-in coolers.
- Deliver excellent customer service by being friendly, attentive, and responsive; handle customer inquiries and resolve complaints professionally.
- Promote teamwork and lead by example through hands-on involvement in daily tasks within the Produce Department.
- Fulfill any additional responsibilities as assigned by superiors, contributing to the overall efficiency and success of the department.
You Should Have/Be:
- Good communication skills in English; proficiency in Chinese (Cantonese and/or Mandarin) is an asset.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, including 3 years in a supervisory role preferred, demonstrating strong leadership and training abilities
- Basic knowledge of profit and loss control; able to interpret data and analyze market trends
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
- Well-versed in workplace health and safety practices.
- Strong knowledge of merchandise management, including inventory control and promotional execution
- Familiar with tools and equipment relevant to the role; able to accurately interpret product labels
- Excellent organizational, problem-solving, interpersonal, and customer service skills
- Self-motivated, accountable, and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
