Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Accounting Intern to join our dynamic finance team. A. PURPOSE OF JOB
The accounting intern provides support to the Controller and accounting staff by assisting with accounts payable, helping maintain accounting records, and other accounting functions where needed.
B. JOB DUTIES
- Processing accounts payable through automated AP system for organization and related entities;
- Downloading and maintaining invoices and credit card receipts;
- Reconciling all TMPA credit cards with monthly statement;
- Assist with monthly request for reimbursement reconciliations with funding sources;
- Maintain and set up vendors in accounting system;
- Enter check/cash payments into the membership database to correspond with accounting system;
- Reconcile and maintain agency rosters;
- Assist with mail distribution, document scanning, electronic filing;
- Assist with completion of projects as necessary;
- Performing other assigned tasks as need.
C. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
· Currently pursuing a degree in Accounting, Finance, Non-Profit Management, or a related field
- Working knowledge of accounting and bookkeeping terminology and practice.
D. KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS
- Knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and maintaining general ledgers.
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
- Knowledge of general record keeping and filing systems.
- Ability to meet schedules and deadlines of the work area.
· Ability to communicate effectively.
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
E. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Be able to sit for an extended period of time (7+ hours).
- Be able to look at computer screen for extended period of time.
- Must be able to lift boxes weighing up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to receive and give detailed information through oral communication.
- Have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; expansive reading.
- Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
