GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
This is a FLSA non-exempt position in which the incumbent serves as an IST Clinician at a Region Ten program for seriously mentally ill adults. The incumbent is responsible for developing and implementing self care skills training programs concerning individual consumers (health and safety, personal care, activities of daily living, use of community resources). The incumbent will also assist consumers with medication management, monitor health, nutrition and physical condition, provide assistance with personal care, ADLS and use of community resources. He/she is expected to attend team meetings, other professional meetings and represent the program to the community as needed.

- BACHELOR’ S DEGREE, QMHP
- MASTER’S DEGREE IN LICENSE ELIGIBLE FIELD BUT NOT YET LICENSE ELIGIBLE AS DEFINED BY DEPARTMENT OF MEDICAL ASSISTANCE SERVICES (DMAS)
- MASTER’S IN NON-LICENSE ELIGIBLE FIELD

- OTHER NON-RELATED DEGREES
CLINCIAN II
- MASTER’S DEGREE AND LICENSE ELIGIBLE ACCORDING THE DHP DEFINITION:
- MASTER’S DEGREE IN PSYCHOLOGY, SOCIAL WORK, COUNSELING, SUBSTANCE ABUSE, OR MARRIAGE AND FAMILY THERAPY FROM AN ACCREDITED COLLEGE OR UNIVERSITY. EDUCATION VERIFIED BY AN OFFICIAL TRANSCRIPT WITH CONFERRAL DATE
- EVIDENCE YOU HAVE HAD AN INTERN OR PRACTICUM OF AT LEAST 500 HOURS OF EXPERIENCE WITH PERSONS WHO HAVE A MENTAL ILLNESS. (VERIFICATION OF INTERNSHIP/PRACTICUM FOR QMHP FORM)
- IS UNDER THE DIRECT PERSONAL SUPERVISION OF A PERSON LICENSED UNDER VIRGINIA LAW, WHO IS WORKING TOWARDS LICENSURE, AND WHO IS IN COMPLIANCE WITH THE APPROPRIATE VIRGINIA LICENSING BOARD MAY PERFORM THE FUNCTIONS OF THE LMHP FOR PURPOSES OF MEDICAID REIMBURSEMENT. THE BOARD OF HEALTH PROFESSIONS REFERS TO MASTERS PREPARED INDIVIDUALS IN COUNSELING AND PSYCHOLOGY AS “RESIDENT”. THE BOARD OF HEALTH PROFESSIONS REFERS TO MASTERS PREPARED INDIVIDUALS IN SOCIAL WORK AS “SUPERVISEE”. FOR PURPOSES OF MEDICAID REIMBURSEMENT, THESE PERSONS SHALL USE LMHP-E AFTER THEIR SIGNATURES TO INDICATE THIS STATUS. ADDITIONALLY, A PERSON WHO CAN REGISTER WITHIN SIX MONTHS OF HIRE. IN THIS CASE, A NEWLY HIRED CLINICIAN’S CONTINUED EMPLOYMENT IS CONTINGENT ON MEETING THE DEFINITION ABOVE WITHIN 6 MONTHS OF HIRE.
CLINICIAN III

- LICENSED PROFESSIONAL COUNSELOR (LPC)
- LICENSED CLINICAL SOCIAL WORKER (LCSW)

EDUCATION:
- A BACHELOR’S OR MASTER’S DEGREE IN A HUMAN SERVICES FIELD (REQUIRED)

EXPERIENCE:
- PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE IS PREFERRED.
CERTIFICATION/LICENSE:
- Must meet certification as QMHP Adult-Eligible (Qualified Mental Health Professional-Eligible) as set forth by Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services.
- TO ENSURE THE SAFE AND EFFICIENT OPERATION OF THE PROGRAM, A VALID VIRGINIA DRIVER’S LICENSE PLUS AN ACCEPTABLE DRIVING RECORD AS ISSUED BY THE DEPARTMENT OF MOTOR VEHICLES ARE REQUIRED.
- FOR BUSINESS USE OF A PERSONAL CAR, A CERTIFICATE OF VALID PERSONAL AUTOMOBILE INSURANCE MUST BE PROVIDED. MASTER’S DEGREE PREFERRED.
In addition, the incumbent must have at least entry level the following knowledge, skills and abilities.
Knowledge of: the nature of serious mental illness in adults and mental illness with substance use; treatment modalities and intervention techniques, such as behavior management, independent living skills training, supportive counseling, family education, crisis intervention, discharge planning and services coordination; medical issues related to mental illness; substance abuse symptomatology; medications - side effects; different types of assessments, planning; consumers' rights; local community resources and service delivery systems, including support services (e.g., housing, financial, social welfare, dental, transportation, communication, recreation, legal/advocacy), eligibility criteria and intake processes, termination criteria and intake processes, and general community resources (e.g., churches, clubs, self-help groups); types of mental health programs, services; effective oral, written and interpersonal communication principles and techniques; general principles of record documentation; the service planning process and major components of a service plan.
Skills in: interviewing; observing, recording and reporting on an individual's functioning (observation of medication effects, i.e., alcohol and abuse); identifying and documenting a consumer's needs for resources, services and other support; using information from assessments, evaluations, observations and interviews to develop service plans; identifying services within the community and established service system to meet the individual's needs; formulating, writing and implementing individualized service plans to promote goal attainment for seriously mentally ill and emotionally disturbed persons; negotiating with consumers and service providers; coordinating the provision of services by diverse public and private providers; identifying community resources and organizations; coordinating resources and activities; using assessment tools (e.g., level of functional scale, life profile scale); non-punitive behavior; providing consultation.

GRADE 9- CLINICIAN I: $21.02 - $31.53 per hour
GRADE 10- CLINICIAN II: $25.00 - $34.68 per hour
GRADE 11- CLINICIAN III: $27.40 - 38.15 per hour
SCHEDULE: This is a PRN position. Work varies based on program needs.
