SUMMARY:
The Medication Specialists / Recovery Support Specialist (RSS) is responsible for maintaining a safe, therapeutic environment in the program with an emphasis on high quality service and resident satisfaction. As a Medication Specialist, this individual is more highly involved with medications and the nurse than typical RSS staff. This position also conducts a wide variety of tasks and responsibilities in supporting the day-to-day operations, resident support and services provided by the program.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provides daily resident support in collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team.
- Responsible for ensuring residents follow the daily schedule.
- Facilitates non-clinical educational groups and recovery support groups/activities under the guidance of the Clinical Director according to program schedule.
- Oversees the self-administration of medications by residents as necessary and completes all medication self-administration documentation accurately.
- Assists the program Nurse with checking medications for necessary refills, ordering from the pharmacy and facilitating delivery of meds.
- Provides training and guidance to other RSS staff on medication self-administration and medication documentation.
- Assists with admission and discharge procedures as needed, including, but not limited to searches of residents and their belongings, collecting urine samples, reviewing medications, orienting new residents and assisting them in settling into the program.
- Conducts regular head counts and resident safety checks as directed.
- Assists with meal set-up, serving, cleanup, and food storage.
- Provides transportation for residents as needed.
- Assists with minor cleaning, organizing, and other tasks to help ensure a professional-looking program environment.

- QUALIFICATIONS ANDEXPERIENCE:
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
- Some professional or lived experience working with people suffering from substance use or mental health conditions is required; other human service experience may be substituted
- Must have experience with medication administration or oversight of medication self-administration from previous work roles.
- Experience working in a residential or inpatient setting is highly desirable, but not required
- Must have basic ability in use of computers to be able make entries and utilize electronic health records
- Must have a valid driver’s license and clean driving record for the past 3 years
Pay: $20.00 - $26.00 per hour
