When you’re juggling a high-mix schedule, every setup counts. We’re looking for someone who thrives on rapid changeovers, sharp planning, and first-article accuracy to keep our CNC lathes producing at peak efficiency.
- Consistently turn out conforming parts after a verified first-piece inspection.
- Reduce setup durations by smartly grouping jobs and preparing tooling/fixtures in advance.
- Maintain flow and uptime across 5+ daily changeovers in a high-volume, high-mix cell.
- Operate CNC lathes with frequent changeovers while sustaining quality and throughput.
- Plan and batch similar jobs to cut setup time and streamline machine sequencing.
- Complete efficient, accurate setups and verify readiness before release.
- Perform first-article checks using Vernier calipers, micrometers, and drop dial indicators, along with visual inspection.
- Communicate effectively with Supervisor and Application Engineering/Programming to drive continuous process improvements.
- Install and align tools, attachments, fixtures, and workpieces using hand tools and precision gauges.
- Stop equipment to remove finished parts or adjust tooling, placement, and setup as per the required sequence.
- Load programs from servers to CNC controls through network connections and validate program accuracy.
- Verify proper lubrication and cooling throughout operations.
- Read blueprints and program specifications to determine operations, order of machining, finished dimensions, and control sequences.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Some hands-on CNC programming experience.
- Solid basic math: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division.
- Ability to read and follow instructions; clear, simple oral communication.
- Lift/push/pull/position parts up to 50 lbs.
- Stand through full 8–10 hour shifts.
- Reliable team player who supports shared goals and production commitments.
- Minimum 3 years in a machine shop, or 1 year if you’re a vocational school graduate.
- Knowledge of basic machining practices/materials is a plus; general mechanical knowledge also valued.
