FT Afternoon/Evening Nanny Position in Bronxville, NY - Live-Out
Position Overview
A warm and welcoming family in Bronxville, NY is seeking an experienced, loving, and energetic Afternoon/Evening Nanny to care for their two boys, ages 3 and 5.
The family is focused on finding the right long-term fit and is flexible with the start date for an exceptional candidate. They are looking for someone who is genuinely warm, playful, patient, and affectionate with children, while also being proactive, reliable, and comfortable working as part of a collaborative household team.
The ideal candidate will have professional nanny experience caring for multiple young children simultaneously and will enjoy engaging with energetic boys through active play, imaginative activities, outdoor adventures, and age-appropriate learning.
Schedule
The regular schedule is Monday through Friday from 1:00 PM to 8:30 PM, with 37.5 guaranteed hours per week.
The nanny should also have some flexibility outside of the regular schedule. On occasion, the parents may need the nanny to stay later due to work events, appointments, or other commitments. This is expected to occur approximately 0–2 times per month.
Additionally, in the event that the family's morning nanny is sick or on vacation, the nanny should have the flexibility to occasionally begin as early as 6:00 AM and assist with a full day of coverage. This would be occasional coverage rather than the nanny's regular schedule.
Responsibilities
The nanny will provide attentive, engaging care for the family's two boys and support their afternoon and evening routines. Responsibilities will include:
- Providing warm, attentive, and developmentally appropriate care for both children.
- Driving the children to and from activities using a family-provided vehicle.
- Planning engaging activities and encouraging active, imaginative, and screen-free play.
- Spending time outdoors, visiting playgrounds, and actively participating in physical play with the children.
- Engaging the boys through reading, games, creative activities, and age-appropriate learning opportunities.
- Supporting afternoon, dinner, bath, and bedtime routines as needed.
- Maintaining a calm and patient approach to behavior and emotional regulation.
- Using gentle parenting principles and positive, respectful guidance.
- Working collaboratively with the parents and other household staff.
- Taking initiative and anticipating the children's needs without requiring constant direction.
- Maintaining clear and consistent communication with the parents.
- Traveling with the family for approximately 1–2 weeks at a time, 1–2 times per year.
Ideal Candidate
The family is seeking someone who:
- Has professional nanny experience with young children, particularly energetic boys.
- Has demonstrated experience caring for two children simultaneously.
- Is exceptionally warm, loving, patient, playful, sweet, and silly with children.
- Understands and is comfortable using a gentle parenting approach.
- Is physically active and comfortable getting up and down from the floor, running and playing outdoors, and climbing on playground equipment with the children.
- Is proactive and naturally takes initiative.
- Is a collaborative team player.
- Is fully fluent in English.
- Is a confident, safe driver with a clean driving record.
- Has their own reliable vehicle to commute to and from work each day, as the family's home is not conveniently accessible by public transportation.
- Is willing to travel domestically with the family.
- Is able to travel internationally, ideally, although this is preferred rather than required.
- Is flexible to occasionally stay late or provide early morning/full-day coverage when needed.
- Is a non-smoker and does not live in a household with anyone who smokes.
- Is CPR and First Aid certified or willing to become certified.
- Is seeking a stable, long-term position and can commit to the family for at least one year, with a longer-term commitment strongly preferred.
Compensation & Benefits
The family is offering $32–$35 per hour, depending on experience, with 37.5 guaranteed hours per week.
