Position Summary: Under general direction, independently performs EEG procedures in a private practice setting. The EEG technologist performs patient examinations requiring computer interaction and/or computation of recorded data and provides descriptions of data.
Education/Experience: High school graduate or higher and completion of an accredited EEG program or equivalent experience for those with previous training is required. Working toward successful completion of a national registry examination in at least one modality and a minimum of two to three years experience in EEG technology, current BLS certification.
Skills and Responsibilities: Performs EEG procedures in at least one modality under general direction of the clinical coordinator, with the standards and protocols of the laboratory.
Measures and accurately applies electrodes in a timely manner using the 10-20 system, with appropriate impedances.
Documents a patient history as per the protocol of the laboratory.
Protects patient confidentiality.
Explains to the patient and/or family the procedure to be performed.
Displays knowledge in recording techniques differentiating artifacts from cerebral activity. To the best of their ability eliminate the artifact and document the procedure.
Attends to the patient needs while in the department.
Displays knowledge of departmental infection control standards relating to patient, equipement and electrodes. Complies with department/office guidelines for handling infectious/hazardous materials.
Keeps equipment clean and in proper working order. Troubleshoot equipment problems and repairs or reports to a supervisor.
Demonstrates basic computer skills.
Performs clerical duties as required including archiving studies and logging charge slips.
Expands knowledge by participation in conferences, in-services, and independent studies.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Pay: $32.50 - $42.50 per hour
