Salary: $55,000–$65,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
Greensburg Country Club is seeking an experienced, motivated, and passionate Sous Chef to join our culinary team. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a private club environment known for exceptional member dining, weddings, banquets, golf outings, and special events. The Sous Chef will work closely with the Executive Chef to ensure the highest standards of food quality, consistency, sanitation, and member satisfaction.
Position Summary
The Sous Chef serves as the second-in-command of the kitchen, assisting in the day-to-day management of all culinary operations. This position leads by example, supervises kitchen staff, maintains quality standards, and ensures efficient execution of à la carte dining, banquet events, pool operations, and club special events.
Essential Responsibilities
- Assist the Executive Chef in managing all daily kitchen operations.
- Supervise, train, coach, and mentor line cooks, prep cooks, pantry staff, and dishwashers.
- Lead the kitchen in the absence of the Executive Chef.
- Prepare and oversee high-quality food for à la carte dining, member events, weddings, banquets, golf outings, pool service, and special events.
- Ensure recipes, presentation, portion control, and quality standards are consistently maintained.
- Assist with menu planning, seasonal menus, and daily features.
- Monitor food quality, freshness, inventory levels, and proper storage procedures.
- Assist with ordering, receiving, and inventory control.
- Help manage food and labor costs while minimizing waste.
- Ensure compliance with all health department regulations, sanitation standards, and food safety procedures.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe kitchen environment.
- Assist with employee scheduling and maintaining appropriate staffing levels.
- Foster a positive, team-oriented culture while holding staff accountable for performance and professionalism.
- Work collaboratively with the Food & Beverage management team to deliver exceptional member experiences.
- Be available to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3–5 years of culinary experience in a country club, upscale restaurant, hotel, or banquet environment.
- Previous supervisory or leadership experience required.
- Strong knowledge of food preparation, menu execution, kitchen operations, sanitation, and inventory management.
- Experience with both high-volume à la carte and banquet production.
- Excellent leadership, communication, organizational, and time-management skills.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining exceptional quality.
- ServSafe Certification preferred (or ability to obtain).
- Culinary degree preferred but not required; equivalent professional experience will be considered.
